Finding the right Vacation Rental or Condo on Seven Mile Beach

At the heart of Grand Cayman’s vacation rental pool of top class accommodations lies the famous Seven Mile Beach, where upscale condominiums, apartments and villas line what is quite possibly the best beach anywhere in the world. Visitors will be absolutely torn due to so many great choices.? For example, stay right at the heart of the action halfway down Seven Mile Beach where restaurants, nightclubs and shopping malls provide all the amenities you could wish for. Or perhaps you would you prefer a quieter life, still on Seven Mile Beach, but further north along the West Bay Road.

George Town Villas are situated in grounds of around three acres at the south end of Seven Mile Beach and has a pool and sunbathing area that is second to none. Although the location itself is peaceful and relaxing overlooking the ocean, you are just half a mile from central George Town and a stone’s throw from some excellent shops and restaurants, including The Wharf, Thai Orchid, Fidel Murphy's Pub and Bed Restaurant and Lounge. Prices range from US$230 to US$395 a night, depending on season.

Just a short way further up Seven Mile Beach is The Islands Club, which is comprised of 27 private, luxury condominium residences. All are superb, deluxe oceanfront units, centrally located on 400 feet of beach. Rates here are slightly more pricey, at US$375 to US$595 per night.

Silver Sands Condos enjoy 550 feet of pristine white sand at the quieter northern end of Seven Mile Beach, and is the perfect location for a family vacation. Facilities include tennis on turf courts, volleyball on the beach, a large freshwater pool, beachfront BBQs and hammocks under beachfront thatched cabanas. Guests are welcomed with a breakfast basket in their apartment upon arrival and disabled guests can enjoy rooms with wheelchair access. Prices vary according to the number of rooms and the season. Expect to pay anywhere from US$390 to US$690 in high season and US$280 to US$480 in low season.

Aqua Bay Club is located right in the heart of Seven Mile Beach. This first class accommodation gives vacationers a base from which to enjoy a perfect and luxurious vacation getaway. The Club has 21 beautifully appointed one and two bedroom condos with a spacious screened balcony or patio overlooking the ocean. High class facilities include a beachfront freshwater swimming pool and heated jacuzzi. For a real chill-out factor, enjoy the cooling shade of one of the Club’s thatched huts, perfectly designed for some serious relaxation. There is a private tennis court on site and snorkeling, diving and fishing can be arranged for guests.

Each condo comes well equipped with all amenities you would expect from a 4-star? resort, such as a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious dining area and the living room includes a sleeper sofa, two or three televisions with cable, telephone, VCR, DVD and a CD player. There is daily maid service and baby-sitting can be arranged. Free high speed internet access is available for all guests. Prices remain reasonable at between US$325 and US$395 per night in high season and US$275 to US$325 in low season.

Discovery Point Club is located on the quieter northern end of Seven Mile Beach and has a selection of 45 rooms, from studios, one and two bedroom condominiums (the latter two types are all ocean front.). First class amenities include two tennis courts (one is night lit), a large freshwater swimming pool and a heated whirlpool spa, both situated right on the beach. ?

All ocean front units have a spacious private screened-in patio or balcony, spacious living area, dining area, cable TV, VCR, DVD player (in most units) and a stereo. Two bedroom apartments have two full bathrooms. All units also now have free high speed DSL internet connections. All towels, linens and beach towels are supplied and there is a maid service daily except on Sunday.

Prices veer slightly more towards the pricier end of the scale – US$300 to US$345 in low season and US$475 to US$525 in high season, depending on the type of accommodation you want.

Budget conscious Guest Houses, Resorts & Inns

Many of the resorts dotted around the island cater for dive enthusiasts, offering special packages that include daily two-tank boat dives and shore diving, dive shops and everything you need to enjoy your sport.

Sunset House Dive Resort
Located on South Church Street, just a mile out from George Town heading towards South Sound, a seven night dive package in a double room in winter costs from $1,566 a night per person to $2,175 for an apartment. This includes six days diving.

Eldemire’s Tropical Island Inn
Quite possible one of the oldest Bed & Breakfasts (B&Bs) on the island. Opened more than 30 years ago it offers budget accommodation ranging from $85 a night for a room in summer to $109 in winter. This economy accommodation is situation in George Town, off Walkers Road, approximately 1 mile from the main shopping centers.

Shangri-La Bed & Breakfast
At the other end of the island, nestled overlooking a man-made lake in Batabano, West Bay, is the Shangri-La B&B/Guesthouse. Shangri-La's newly built lakeside luxury bed & breakfast with pool and jacuzzi, is your perfect holiday retreat at very affordable prices.
